Reading out loud is a collective reading session exploring reading practices. How we read, listen, understand, and discuss when we read together?

During this session, we will have a close read of the text The Permanence of the World and the Work of Art by Hanna Arendt from the book The Human Condition. In this text, Arendt exposes the idea that works of art stabilizes the world. Presenting artworks as unique things without any fixed purpose.

How does the text transforms, unfolds, and reveals when reading is a shared experience?

The reading sessions are generated by professor Philipp Schulte from Norwegian Theatre Academy (Høgskolen i Østfold) where the students from MA in Performance are participating in the readings and discussions. The model brought to Litteraturhuset aims to expand this practice towards the public realm and it is integrated as part of the research of the student Fernanda Branco. Based on exploring ways to encounter words, to expand institutions or spaces’ given structures, and to offer modes of collective discussion.

You are invited to take part of this collective reading and discussion session.

As we will provide printing copies of the text, please book your free entrance.
